Happy 3rd Birthday Meera & Emma!

August 15, 2011
Yesterday we gathered with friends in Sellwood park to celebrate Meera & Emma's 3rd birthday. We played games, ate pizza, and devoured two beatiful cakes. A special thanks to Garth and Mel for helping us with the set up/take down, Dawn and kids for helping us decorate and take pictures, and Ashwini and family for making two decadent cakes for the girls. We didn't get a chance to open presents yet, we are planning on opening a few each day and spread them out. Thank you to everyone for helping us party and for your thoughtful gifts!

Erick and I have been reflecting on the last three years and wanted to express how grateful we are to have you all in our lives. We certainly could not have made it through these three years without all of your love and support. We get such joy from being parents and thoroughly love watching our girls grow and change. Meera and Emma are now confident, strong, independent, inquisitive, silly, and sweet big girls. They still have their occasional melt down, but for the most part we all have a blast together. We are in the stage of wanting to read books over and over and over and over again. (So our influx of new books from their birthday has been great). They are adamant to do everything themselves - dressing, pottying, washing hands, setting the table, getting in and out of the car/car seats, etc, etc. Everyday has a new challenge they are determined to master.

They will be starting two half days at Wildwood Preschool in a few weeks. I am sure the transition will be tough, but we are hoping it will be a fun adventure for them. Kate will still nanny for them and I will continue to have my one day off to spend time with them and do PT for Meera (who by the way is doing amazingly well).

The director the Dermatopathology fellowship at OHSU retired, which means we likely will be moving to another city for one year in 2013 so Erick can do his fellowship. We were disappointed to learn this news, but it is slowly sinking in. I am still in a little bit of denial, I am sure it will become more real once we know where we are headed. I am hopeful that my employer (Women's Healthcare Associates) will offer my position back to me when we return.

Here are some photos from our party (Thanks Dawn!)
Sending you all big hugs and kisses,
Nat, Erick, Meera & Emma
