June 2012

June was a big month for us. The girls finished their first year of pre-school. They had a wonderful end of year celebration and their teachers put together little books of projects they worked on and pictures of the girls from the year. Here are a few links to the end of year party where each child was asked to come up in front of the class and was told what they taught the teachers throughout the year. Meera and Emma were very proud of all of their accomplishments at Wildwood (as are we!).

A few weeks after preschool ended the girls did a week long "Parade Camp" where the preschool teachers and their adolescent children led the camp. Several of the adolescent "counselors" fell in love with Meera and  made big "I love Meera" posters for her to hang above her bed. :) Each day they designed something to use for the parade that happened the last day of the camp (masks, decorated shirts, made musical instruments, etc). Meera was very proud to be chosen to lead the parade at the end of the camp. Erick and Pop Pop were both able to attend the parade.

Later in the month Tia visited over memorial day weekend. We had an adventurous trip to the coast, complete with a last minute change in our lodging and needing to have the Subaru jumped :) We all managed to have a wonderful time and had a great time flying kites and hanging out on the Lincoln City and Siletz bay beaches.

Another sweet memory from June was that Erick and I did special one-on-one dates with the girls. Emma and I attended a performance by Rachel Coleman from Signing Times. Emma was overjoyed to see her in person (she is a celebrity in our house) and counted down the days/weeks until we had our date. She followed Rachel's signs during the performance and was chosen to come onstage to participate in one of her songs. (see video). It was perfect, she was 'surprised', which fit perfectly with the face she had the whole time on stage -- mouth wide open, just staring at everyone looking at her.
Meera, Erick and Tia went to Playdate PDX, which is a huge indoor playpark and had a blast.

The girls are getting so much bigger and are becoming such beautiful people.

We are so proud of them!

p.s. - all of the pictures of us eating ice cream are to celebrate Meera wearing her braces all night. (yes, I have gotten a little heavier). She is doing much better wearing her night-time braces, which really help with her flexibility.

p.p.s: One of the many perks of being a twin: you have the perfect partner for teeter-tottering!

p.p.p.s: make sure to scroll down to previous posts, I haven't sent out update reminders recently, but have added a few photos so I don't get too behind.
